Soulja Boy Goes Off on Tyga for Saying Birdman Owes Him Money.
Soulja Boy has sides with Baby in his beef with Tyga, claiming Birdman put millions in his pocket.
Speaking on Complex’s morning debate show, Everyday Struggle, the rapper was asked what he thought about Tyga’s claims that Birdman and Cash Money owed him money.
“I never lost my b**ch to another n**ga, I ain’t never got no car repoed, I ain’t never say my uncle Birdman owed me millions, I got Rich Gang tattooed on my face. Birdman put me on Lil Wayne’s ‘I’m Not a Human Being’ Part 2, Birdman flew me to Miami, and put millions in my pocket. What the f**k is Tyga talking about? Don’t ever say my uncle Birdman owe you no money.”
Soulja Boy was kind of right, as the majority of his success is owed to Birdman. Birdman, as the head of Young Money Entertainment, signed Soulja Boy to the label, which launched his career and helped him gain significant fame and recognition. Young Money provided all the resources for the Chicago rapper to succeed, which worked out pretty well until they split in 2010.
Birdman’s beef with Tyga all started after Tyga made a pretty bold claim about what Birdman and Cash Money owed him during an interview with The Breakfast Club.
“Right now I’m in a position where I just want Wayne to get what he’s owed, I don’t even want to throw nothing more on that situation. I want to see Wayne prosper with that, and then I can go see.”
“I had to pay to get out. I paid to get out,”
Tyga continued, claiming he paid close to $1 million to get off his Cash Money contract.
“Now, mind you, I’m owed probably at least twelve, fifteen million.”
Birdman, through his label Cash Money, quickly dismissed the claims, stating that Tyga was the one who owed him. The New Orleans rapper also said that the “Floss In The Bank” rapper owed Cash Money a significant amount of money over record label advances.
“There are no royalties due and payable to Plaintiff under the referenced 2016 Release and Termination Agreement or otherwise. While revenue has been generated from the exploitation of Plaintiff’s recordings, Plaintiff was paid advances against royalties owed, and numerous recoupable expenses have been incurred,” Cash Money claimed in court.
Tyga is not the only former Cash Money artist to accuse the label of owing him money, as Lil Wayne also sued the label for $51 million. Additionally, “A Milli” beatmaker Bangladesh and longtime Cash Money songwriter Mannie Fresh have also expressed their frustration over a lack of proper compensation in the past.
