Diddy reveals that former Bad Boy Records artist, Ma$e, owes him $3 million from his time when he was under the label.
During his guest appearance on The Breakfast Club, Diddy revealed that his former Bad Boy Records signee, Ma$e, owes him $3 million and also accused him of failing to deliver after he gave him money for an album.
The beef between Ma$e and Diddy has been ongoing for years ever since Maze accused Diddy of withholding royalties from his music. Their history dates back to 1997 when Ma$e released his debut album, “Harlem World,” under Diddy’s record label, Bad Boy Records. He subsequently released two more albums under the label.
Diddy was asked by Charlamagne tha God on the Breakfast Club how much Ma$e owed him, Diddy stated,
“Ma$e owes me $3 million. That’s a fact, and I have the receipts.”
Diddy also accused Ma$e of failing to deliver after he gave him money for an album,
“I gave him money for an album, and he never delivered.”
“I’m not going to engage in back-and-forth with Ma$e. If I’m here, I will speak up for myself now,”
Continued the New York rapper.
Diddy has always been clear in his interviews about how he hates thieves or people who seek to profit off money they did not earn,
“I hate a thief, I hate somebody who just wants to take something that somebody else worked for, solely for their benefit. I don’t like that.”
Diddy’s accusations come after Ma$e publicly called out Diddy an Instagram for withholding his music royalties from 24 years ago.
“U still have my publishing from 24 years ago for which you gave me $20k. This makes me never want to work with you, as any artist wouldn’t after realizing someone is robbing you and tarnishing your name when you refuse to comply with his unethical business practices,” wrote Ma$e on Instagram.
Diddy who has made quite a name for himself for being frequently called out by his former artists for unpaid debts, has accused artists of employing tactics of claiming he owes them as a way to retaliate when they face financial difficulties.
When asked by Charlamagne tha God why many people accuse him of owing them, Diddy responded,
“People have this thing called the tap-out button. When you reach a certain point and funds are running low, you resort to this hustle to find someone to blame,”
Said the rap mogul.
“I have all my records, and we are going to conduct a special retrospective with all the artists to clarify these narratives. Various tactics are employed when individuals seek to terminate contracts… I will defend my reputation as the honorable man that I am. I am not perfect.”
