Fat Joe reveals that Sean Diddy had an “invincible thin gold chain” around his neck.
New York rapper Fat Joe was on Luc Belaire CEO Brett Berish’s ‘Self Made Tastes Better’ series where he talked about his rap career, including when he went broke, the importance of mentorship, and all the lessons he tried to impart to Tekashi 6ix9ine.
At the 24-minute mark, Fat Joe talked about how he recklessly spent the money he made at the beginning of his career and also mentioned how people like Diddy influenced him with their expensive jewelry.
“I met Puff Daddy and he had an invincible chain. He had a gold chain that was so thin that you could see through,”
Said the New York rapper.
Fat Joe told Brett Berish a story of how he went broke because he thought he had already made it since he had a million dollars in his bank account.
“It was ‘false made it'”, replied Fat Joe, “meaning that I grew up so poor that I was brainwashed just like every kid in America from Woody Wood pecker on, that if you make a million dollars then you could buy a cloud if you want,”
He continued.
“So you tell everybody that you’re a millionaire and that’s it. You can buy this whole block and the mountains. So I got a million dollars and I’m eating $30,000 worth of dinner every night with 40 motherf***ers with me, champagnes, lobsters, steaks, every night for like 15 years straight,”
Said, Fat Joe.
“You think you’re a millionaire and you don’t even check the account. I’m a millionaire until you go in there one day, and they tell you you have no money and you walk out of there with your hands tight. When the teller who usually gives you 50 cash every time you walk in will be like ‘Joe, something ain’t right’. It happened on 161st across the street from the Kuchi Frito by Yankee Stadium. My hands were tight. I walked out of there; I was like ‘I thought we were rich’.”
“I had to go back at it again. Truthfully, it happened to me about three times in my life when I went to the bank account and it said zero. Right after that, I went back and made ‘What’s Love’ and I had like another $5 million in my bank account. We kept popping, doing all the crazy sh**, private planes, and one day I walked into another bank and they told me ‘You ain’t got no money’.”
Fat Joe also told Brett Berish that if he could go back in time and change everything, he would,
“I would change everything”.
