Pitbull Says New-Generation Rappers Don’t Listen To OG’s Advice

Pitbull says the new generation of rappers doesn’t listen to advice from those who were in the game before them and instead does the complete opposite of what they’re told.

Miami rapper Pitbull made an appearance on Kevin Hart’s ‘Gold Minds’ podcast on LOL Network, where he talked about his passion for music and the differences between his generation of rappers and the new generation.

Talking about what drove him to become the artist he is today, Pitbull pointed out that he listened to advice from people who were in the music industry before him—something he believes today’s generation of rappers lacks.

“When it comes to the newer generation that is coming up, I wish everybody the best, and I’m very happy to be in that position,” said the Miami rapper. “But I have spoken to, let me say, 95% of them, and every time I tried to give them advice, they go on to do the total opposite of what the f**k I just told them. For me, life is very simple. Love is the most powerful thing in life, but the most valuable thing is time. If you gonna waste my f**king time, then I ain’t got time to give you advice,”

He continued.

Pitbull is not the first rapper to complain about young rappers not listening to advice. OGs like Fat Joe, 50 Cent, Juvenile, Rakim, and many others have all talked about the same issue, also blaming today’s rappers for being too violent and reckless.

In just the last five years, the hip-hop scene has lost over 20 rappers to gun violence or dr*g abuse, including popular names like Julio Foolio, Rich Homie Quan, Nipsey Hussle, Takeoff, Pop Smoke, Juice WRLD, Mac Miller, King Von, and many others. The majority of today’s rappers who are not dead have been in jail for one reason or another. Young Thug, NBA YoungBoy, Kodak Black, and Lil Durk—who is currently awaiting trial for a m**der-for-hire case—are just some of the names that have been to prison.
