50 Cent and The Game’s never-ending beef, which has existed since 2005, is again making headlines after The Game’s recent interview. The Compton rapper appeared on the ‘I Am Athlete’ podcast, where he cleared up misconceptions about claims that 50 Cent wrote some of his songs. According to The Game, 50 Cent only wrote for himself and never wrote a single song for him.
“Let’s cut all the 50 wrote for Game sh*t. 50 wrote for 50 and did his part,”
Said The Game.
The Game continued to explain what happened in the studio:
“You gotta know when you’re in a group in the studio and you’re writing, it’s like you catch an interception, you turn s**t around, and you go score. That’s a personal accolade for you, but you’re really doing it for the team. So when we are in there and I’m bouncing off my lyrics, and we all in a huddle, and I be like, ‘Yo Swaggy, what do you think if I say maybe you know the palm tree grows higher than the cloud?’ and you like, ‘Put that.’ That doesn’t mean you wrote it for me, but you get writer’s credit. So we were just in there doing what The Lox were doing.”
“When I also do that, I don’t come up and be like, ‘I wrote this for that.’ I was there leaning against the wall for ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin”, so I need credit for that. It’s just like you rap and I rap, and I’m just a better rapper than you. And that’s cool because you’re a better TV producer than me.”
The Game’s claims come just a few months after 50 Cent revealed in an interview with Lil Wayne on ‘Young Money Radio’ that he helped The Game write some of his songs. 50 Cent said he agreed to a deal with Jimmy Iovine to help The Game with his lyrics in exchange for Iovine improving his relationship with Dr. Dre.
“I went to meet Jimmy [Iovine]. Jimmy played me Game’s record. Game was in the studio with Dre for over a year at that point. [Jimmy] said, ‘Yo, what’d you think about it?’ I said, ‘He can rap. He’s a great rapper. He’s just not a good songwriter yet.’ He said, ‘If you fix this, I’ll make sure that everything is good between you and Dre. Everything.’ And I’m like, ‘Okay, that’s nothing, that’s nothing, I’ll fix it.’ “
“I only worked with Game for four days. For four days that I worked with Game, I muted my vocals on ‘Documentary,’ ‘Special,’ ‘Higher,’ ‘Church for Thugs.’ He didn’t love it. But when he rapped on them, he did it. He nailed that s**t.”
50 Cent didn’t seem to agree with The Game’s claims, as after we posted on our Instagram the video of The Game denying 50 ever writing for him, the Queens rapper commented on the post with an emoji expressing his shock at the video.
