The Game has praised Eminem for standing up to 50 Cent at the 2022 Super Bowl after 50 didn’t get a chance to perform at the Halftime show.
Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar were the artists that headlined the halftime show at the 2022 Super Bowl LVI, which took place on February 13, 2022. It marked the first Super Bowl halftime show to be centered entirely around hip-hop music. Dr. Dre and Eminem brought out 50 Cent and Anderson. Paak who both made guest appearances at the event
Two years later, it was revealed that Jay Z never wanted 50 Cent to perform at the Super Bowl and wanted to block his performance and it only took the intervention of Eminem before 50 Cent was allowed to perform. Eminem was willing to cancel his performance at the event if they didn’t let 50 perform.
The Game has come out to applaud Eminem for standing up for 50 Cent like he did and doubled down on the fact that Eminem was ready to cancel his performance if Dre didn’t bring 50 Cent along. Speaking on the Full Send Podcast, The Game applauded Eminem for his loyalty to 50 Cent and the people around him.
“If Dre didn’t bring 50 Cent, Em probably wouldn’t have done it. That speaks on Em’s loyalty to 50[Cent] and his people.” said The Game. “That’s dope. It’s like saying I would not walk into a club until they let everybody that’s with me in first. If I walk in first and go to my section they’ll leave people outside. So I make sure I stay at the front door until they let all my people in. So I get what Eminem hypothetically did there.”
He continued.
It was 50 Cent who first revealed that Jay Z’s Roc Nation tried to block his performance at the 2022 Super Bowl. Speaking on the Big Boys neighborhood podcast, 50 Cent narrated what went down before he was finally allowed to perform.
50 Cent said.
“Eminem wouldn’t do it without me. That’s how I ended up on the show because he was not coming if I didn’t do it. When that happens, you go, ‘Damn, so you just lost Eminem because you didn’t bring 50? Damn. All right. Bring 50 then.’ But if it was up to them, they would not have me there. I’m surprised. I’m not on the bill at all. But they couldn’t get Em to do it without me.”
It wasn’t the only time 50 Cent talked about the incident. While talking about his relationship with Jay-Z during an interview with Cam’ron earlier this month, 50 recalled the instance when Jay-Z allegedly tried to “block” him from performing at the Super Bowl.
“Our culture’s competitive, it is,” 50 Cent said. “But when it goes beyond the music and starts affecting business decisions, that’s where I don’t get it. Right now, he’s not even competing for a spot. He doesn’t have a new song out that he’s trying to push into the top 10 or top 5. And yet, he’s still competing? That doesn’t make sense. What are we competing for?”
The 2025 Super Bowl will be headlined by Kendrick Lamar, an announcement that also brought its own fair share of controversy.
